Expressions of Resilience - a new project launched in collaboration between Beyond the Box & BUILDHOLLYWOOD.
To kick-start the project, we are inviting young creatives from the London Boroughs of Hackney and Tower Hamlets to a series of free Masterclasses in Contemporary Culture with some of the biggest names from across the industry design, music, architecture, cultural curation, and film.

About the Industry Speakers
Afia Yeboah is a Creative Producer and Community Engagement Consultant who has worked in various cultural organisations over the past 18 years including Southbank Centre, Chisenhale Dance Space, Waymakers Kids, Whitechapel Galley, We Don’t Settle and the V&A.
She joined the V&A in 2015 as a specialist in performance for Families and Young People. Afia currently works at V&A East as Senior Producer for Community Partnerships and Participatory Practice, leading on community consultation and the pre-opening activity plan for the new V&A East sites opening on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in 2025. She is the chair of Three Rivers Bexley Board - an alliance of local organisations using art to build community in the London Borough of Bexley as part of Arts Council England’s Creative Places and People an initiative that focuses on developing co creation models with local communities in parts of the country where involvement in arts and culture is significantly below the national average.
Meneesha Kellay is a curator working across art, architecture, design, and performance. Currently the Senior Curator, Contemporary at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), she supports emerging creative practice through commissioning displays, installations, performances, and events. Meneesha has experience leading major events on London’s cultural calendar, such as the London Design Festival and London Festival of Architecture (LFA) at the V&A, and Open House London, reaching over a quarter of a million people.
Meneesha is also co-curator of the British Pavilion at the International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2023 which received a Special Mention Award. Previously she was Public Programmes Curator at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Assistant Director of the AA Night School at the Architectural Association.

About the Venue - The Car Wash
This new cultural venue in the heart of Shoreditch is managed by BUILDHOLLYWOOD and comprises of three spaces. The Car Wash is wheelchair accessible from street level, but please let us know in advance if you have any access needs so we can make prior arrangement to enable wheelchair to access the WC.
