Expressions of Resilience - a new project launched in collaboration between Beyond the Box & BUILDHOLLYWOOD.

To kick-start the project, we are inviting young creatives from the London Boroughs of Hackney and Tower Hamlets to a series of free Masterclasses in Contemporary Culture with some of the biggest names from across the industry design, music, architecture, cultural curation, and film.

Join us on Friday, May 31st at 6pm in Shoreditch East London at the Car Wash. We will be in conversation with Architect Kossy Nnachetta, and Film Maker Tomisin Adepeju.

About the Industry Speakers

Kossy Nnachetta is a Partner and Architect in Feilden Clegg Bradley’s London studio. Kossy is currently leading the transformation of the International Slavery Museum and Maritime Museum, addressing complex narratives of heritage, representation, and Restorative Justice.

An experienced designer, Kossy has worked on higher education, residential mixed-use, office and cultural projects during her time at FCBStudios. She has taken projects including Embassy Gardens and TUDublin Grangegorman from design to completion on site, always expanding and applying her technical excellence in pre-fabrication and BIM. She led the development of the Thornton Building, for Bioinformatics at Wellcome Genome Campus, Hinxton; constructed in cross laminated timber and championing a strong sustainability agenda.

Kossy is passionate about bringing fresh voices to the design table and is committed to mentoring both inside and outside the practice. She is an RIBA Ambassador; working in schools to inspire young people to the joy and importance of the Built Environment

Tomisin Adepeju is a British-Nigerian film-maker based in London. His award winning shorts has screened at over 150 film festivals, these include, Sundance, BFI Film Festival and London Short Film Festival. He has also written about film for MUBI and several other platforms. He is the founder of the screening and event series DAILIES where he regularly curates shorts and feature film programmes.

Dailies recently launched DAILIESESSIONS, a professional development and workshop series for creatives and storytellers. The sessions are anchored around the craft, process and language of film-making through the lens of acting, direction, cinematography, casting and other creative fields.

At the end of the evening event, you will be the first to hear about the new collaboration between Beyond the Box and BUILDHOLLYWOOD and your chance to produce your own event at the space later this year!

About the Venue - The Car Wash

This new cultural venue in the heart of Shoreditch is managed by BUILDHOLLYWOOD and comprises of three spaces. The Car Wash is wheelchair accessible from street level, but please let us know in advance if you have any access needs so we can make prior arrangement to enable wheelchair to access the WC.
