Voicing Collectives: HuqThat & Palestine Collective
Join us for an inspiring collaborative event as part of the Unbreakable Voices exhibition at BUILDHOLLYWOOD's 1 Quaker Street in Shoreditch, where creative collectives HuqThat and Palestine Collective will activate the space with their unique programming, offering immersive, thought-provoking experiences.
About the Collectives:
HuqThat is an artist collective dedicated to celebrating art, culture, and beauty through the ancient practice of mehndi. At this event, their artists will provide free mehndi services in The Tearoom, where henna will be delicately applied to the skin in forms and texts that express themes of protest and resilience. As meaningful films play in the background, the mehndi designs will become part of your personal expression, creating a lasting impact that you'll carry with you as you leave the exhibition. HuqThat’s work fuses cultural traditions with powerful visual storytelling, offering an intimate, interactive way to engage with the exhibition.
Palestine Collective is a creative community that advocates for justice, support, and peace for Palestine. They organize talks, events, and provide resources that raise awareness for the Palestinian cause. For this event, they will take over The Kitchen with a hands-on workshop inviting attendees to create and respond to the themes of the Unbreakable Voices exhibition. The creations from the workshop will be proudly displayed as part of the exhibition, adding layers of personal expression to the ongoing conversation. Throughout the week, the live installation wall in The Kitchen will remain open, and visitors are encouraged to contribute their thoughts on what resilience means to them.
